  • WHAT DO SNAKES REPRESENT TO YOU?

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had a session with a reiki healer about a year ago and she asked me “what’s your relationship with snakes?” I of course, without even taking a second, said FEAR!
Here’s a question, when did I decide that snakes equal fear? When in my childhood was I told that snakes are scary and they’ll hurt me if I get too close? I mean, I’ve met humans like that (lol), ones that will bite you with their gaze if you get too close; humans that are like roses, beautiful and graceful to look at but the second you get too close they prick you with their thorns.
Going back to snakes, in the moment I responded with fear, all sorts of questions came up in my mind, how are humans any different? What other stories do I have deeply imbedded that I didn’t get to create on my own? I then said, why do you ask? She explained that during my session on the table, a snake gracefully coiled itself around my hips, down my legs and straight into the ground, re-grounding my spirit.
Tears rolled down my face, and it was at that moment my story of snakes, my conditioned fear began to dissipate. I suddenly had a new found love, admiration and appreciation for the snake spirit. When I saw a snake shortly after I let it pass and admired its beauty and soul.
This post is to honor the snake spirit, my spirit animal, for its transformation, for reinventing itself multiple times a year through the shedding of its skin, for its beauty, grace, healing properties, energetic protection and for re-grounding me in my souls purpose.
