  • PLANT PROFILE: Echinacea

    Powerful beautiful Echinacea! I mean look at her bright and joyful, it's as if she's calling you in and saying play with me! I took this photo in Interlaken, Switzerland where this wildflower surely runs wild!

    Echinacea is the best known immunostimulant! She's used to prevent & treat the common cold, influenza and infections.Studies show she can reduce the odds of developing a cold by 58% & its duration by 1–4 days.

    She was amongst the most popular herbs used by the Native Americans Indians to treat coughs, colds, sore throats, infections, toothaches, inflammations, tonsillitis and snake bites.

    Her antioxidant properties can help control blood sugar levels & support cell repair. She's been shown to slow the growth of malevolent tumor cells, blocking cancer’s ability to spread; some might suggest that Echinacea is a good preventative measure for women with a family history of breast cancer.

    Echinacea helps regulate the synapses that aids communication between your body and brain, making her an excellent herb for those battling anxiety. Her anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties support the lowering of blood pressure, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, Crohn’s disease and other conditions that are caused or worsened by inflammation.

    I've been personally communing with Echinacea over the past 10 years to prevent illness and shes worked wonders! Grateful for this plant spirit and her gifts!

    PREPARATION
    1 small handful of dried Echinacea flowers in a 32oz mason jar;
    Cover with boiling water
    Steep for 6-8hrs (I like to steep overnight for the full medicine extraction)
    Strain and enjoy!

    I LOVE adding Echinacea to my daily Citrus Peel Tea Recipe and my Fire Cider Recipe!
